When Lyda reaches thirty, churning memories of a forgotten past, it compels her to launch a quest to unravel her ancestral ties to the extraterrestrial Anunnaki of the ancient Sumerian civilization that flourished in Mesopotamia. With few leads to follow, she launches her search with the help of a famous investigative writer, who quickly adds a former detective, a remote viewer, a clairvoyant, and a wealthy couple with resources to her team. As Lyda embarks on her odyssey of discovery, she encounters a tangled trail of intrigue and deception by those who would thwart her quest, from the sands and Ziggurats of the Tigris Valley to the western shores of America, culminating in a devious conspiracy that threatens the ancestral proof she has finally uncovered. Famous investigative author, Russell Thornton, first meets Lyda at one of his lectures and is immediately attracted to the young, thirtyish, dark-haired woman. While certainly Caucasian, her facial structure carries a distinct notion of Middle Eastern royalty. Her deliberate and purposeful yet graceful stride to reach him left the impression of someone working the runway of a fashion show, but it belied her internal turmoil at the subject she was about to broach. She has a quest: she is convinced that while she is very much a human being of human parents, her lineage goes back many millennia to those extraterrestrial's that came here to colonize this planet. She wants Russell to help prove the truth about the things she knows deep within her about those ancestors and the Anunnaki Brethren that remained after the others left. So begins the odyssey that brings together the talents of Jim Menard, a former detective; Fenton Stonefeather, a decorated, retired army remote viewer; Clarene Davis, a world famous psychic and clairvoyant; and Jim's aunt and uncle, Jocelyn and Alden Menard, whose California hacienda becomes the center of operations for the quest. Lyda provides enough information from her memories for Stonefeather to locate the ancient city of Ur and its Ziggurat as a starting point, from which Russell and Lyda begin a search to find all they can about the life and times of the Sumerians who lived there. This causes the Brethren to become concerned that Lyda will discover the amulet of Anu, the source of power on earth for the Queen of the extraterrestrials, inadvertently left behind by her ancestral Grandmother when the Anunnaki so hastily departed. A council of other formidable extraterrestrial interests also takes note of Lyda's quest and hope to help her succeed in finding the amulet, for they want to use its power for their own severe purposes--to obliterate the world's overpopulation and to keep humans from getting a foothold in outer space, their backyard. As Lyda and her team close in on the amulet, Anu comes to her and tells her that she must find and protect the amulet from those that want to destroy humanity. After following several disappointing leads, Clarene locates the amulet at a museum in Los Angles, where its value and power are unknown to the curators. A confrontation soon ensues between Lyda and the leader of the council, after which the amulet is stolen from the Museum. Clarene, working with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office, quickly locates the amulet and the thieves, but as they try to retrieve the artifact, the Brethren suddenly intervene, taking it away and giving it to Lyda for protection. She is now faced with how to keep the Council from using the powerful device for their devious purposes.
